Meet the Grower; Holstein Flowers

Colorful craftsmanship from the Westland: Holstein Flowers in the spotlight

Between the vast greenhouses of De Lier, in the heart of the Westland, you will find a company where color and quality go hand in hand: Holstein Flowers. Since 1974, people have been working here with dedication to grow gerberas - not just any flowers, but real eye-catchers in bouquets all over the world. What began as a traditional nursery has grown into an innovative business where family, craftsmanship and sustainability come together.

A family business with character

Holstein Flowers is a true family business, now run by the third generation. From the beginning the Holstein family has had a clear mission: to grow the finest gerberas with an eye for people, the environment and the market. That down-to-earth Westland mentality - do what you say and say what you do - still forms the basis of the company. At the same time, Holstein is known for its progressive approach and open attitude toward innovation.

More than 120 varieties and colors

Anyone who walks into the greenhouse literally steps into a world of color. Holstein grows more than 124 varieties of gerberas, ranging from large standard flowers to delicate minis. From soft pastels to bright yellow or deep purple - each flower has its own character. This diversity makes Holstein popular with florists, wholesalers and exporters, who can always offer something special to their customers with the wide choice. Moreover, new varieties are regularly added to the assortment. Because Holstein breeds itself. New varieties are developed, tested and refined at our own nursery. In this way Holstein Flowers retains full control over quality, color and shelf life. This keeps the assortment not only broad, but also unique.

Innovation and sustainability in balance

Holstein Flowers is not a nursery that stands still. Sustainability is an integral part of its operations. For example, the greenhouse is partially heated with geothermal heat, the water is completely reused and crop protection is done organically whenever possible. In addition, the company invests continuously in automation: modern sorting machines, data-controlled cultivation systems, accurate climate control and improvements in the packaging process. This makes Holstein not only future-proof, but also an example for the sector.

Fresh from the greenhouse to the customer

Every day thousands of gerberas are harvested, sorted and packed to be shipped at lightning speed to customers at home and abroad. Thanks to well-organized logistics, the flowers are often in the customer's vase within 24 hours - fresh, strong and with a long shelf life. This makes Holstein Flowers a reliable partner in the chain, something many customers rely on year after year.

A company that makes you happy

Whether you are a florist, a fan of gerberas or just curious about the story behind such a colorful bunch of flowers: at Holstein Flowers you will see how love for the trade, clever innovations and a family with a mission come together. A special company from De Lier where every flower tells something - and where it always seems like spring.
